Привет всем!

I'm looking for some new Russian music recommendations. I'm not really much into the pop or hip-hop music scene, rather, I'm looking for something that has a nice groove, but focuses more on the musicality of the language and that is very vivid, if that makes any sense. Here's a smattering of some other bands (not Russian, I'm afraid) that I like various aspects of, if it helps:

Francis Cabrel
Hootie & the Blowfish
Ani DiFranco
Rufus Wainwright
Clandestine
Matchbox 20
Frank Sinatra
Dean Martin
Sammy Davis Junior
Aerosmith (*blush*)
Santana
The Proclaimers

I look forward to hearing your recommendations!

I can suggest Ноль (Nol', "Zero") , http://www.zvuki.ru/A/P/275/
Their lyrics are not of much sense, but they're "vivid" as nobody else (if I take your meaning)

Their lyrics are "of much sense" all right, if you dig the 1980s Leningrad underground drug subculture.

You should probably try D'rkin (links: lyrics (http://drdom.ru/text/alfavit.htm), mp3s (http://drkin.rinet.ru/audiolist.php)): his lyrics are really impressive.

Musicality of the language? THen the current Russian pop-music is NOT for you. You'd be amazed at how twisted can Russian language become in the hands (or mouths, for that matter :) ) of Russian pop-singers. Russian bard-song is a completely different matter. I really love it, though I only know one name - Oleg Milyutin.

I like Крематорий (http://www.crematorium.ru/). Not really too similar to the bands you listed, but they're not bad. They have a ton of mp3s (http://www.crematorium.ru/archives/audio.shtml) to listen to.

I agree with the suggestions of Zемфира and АукцЫон. Also check out Кино and Аквариум, they're classics.

Oh, and try Nautilus Pompilius, they did the Брат soundtrack, and try the Брат-2 soundtrack for a sampling of some popular bands you may like.

If you're willing to go a little further afield in terms of language, I suggest Океан Ельзы, a Ukrainian band. They rule.

If you like Frank Sinatra, then maybe our Muslim Magomaev would attract your attention. Here (http://magomaev.ru/new/index.php?item=793) you can listen to his singing (in Russian and in soome other languages).

definitely, "Dolphin"/"Дельфин" (http://www.dolphin-site.ru/) and his old project "Дубовый Гаайъ" would be int. You could try Богушевская/Bigushevskaya and Несчастный Случай/Neschasnty sluchay also.

Gin-Tonic (Джин-Тоник (http://www.gin-tonic.ru))
Not that popular, but the music is very-very nice and the lyrics are pretty legible.
