So if I wanted to say I have another favorite friend (f.), for example, would I say У меня другая любимая подруга?

"У меня другая любимая подруга" means "I have another favourite friend" implying, "not you". Or, "not [some particular person that was mentioned earlier in the conversation]".

If you just want to say "I have another favourite friend [whose name is XYZ... whose hair is brown... whom I saw yesterday... etc.]" you should say, "у меня есть другая любимая подруга" or better still, "у меня есть ещё одна любимая подруга".
