Privjet,
I have a question regarding my nickname I use for surfing the net. Could anybody tell me the meaning and origin of the name "Sinaida"? I asked a russian friend of mine - her given name *is* Sinaida - but she could't tell me. *g*

Greetings,
Sina

It's interesting, the differences between the English and German transliterations of Russian. Use whatever you want to. *L* That's why I use "Katja", even in English (though the older transliterations of Russian into English were more similiar to the German ones). However, with German, I find a lot of the w's tend to look horrible when written, (Wladimir) and sometimes the j's on the end look weird. It's interesting to see some of my Russian friends here in Germany use the English transliterations for their names rather than the German ones (Alexei rather than Alexej or whatever).
