Well I just write клэр in Russian. But when I hablo espanol I introduce myself as Clara. Is клара a well known name, if not a popular one?

I heard this name in Russia, though it's not a common one. I like how "Клэр" sounds better but that's just my taste. :-)

...not too popular nowdays, but some grannies named Клара still exist around.
Better name yourself Клэр, this is a more popular (because completely non-russian) form :)

Клара is kinda old-fashioned name, it does not sound very beautiful to me, but Клэр is a French name for Светлана because the meaning is 'light', so I'd choose to call myself Светлана, Света cuz it is a cute Russian name, I love it.
