what is 'lowlife'?
Just curious. There is no such word in my dictionary.

It means someone who is sort of morally "low". Dubious. Shifty. Criminal. Generally not well-off - "low" in society. So a "bunch of lowlifes" would be a group of dubious people, probably law-breakers, who most don't want to associate with.

It's not a concise definition, but it's not a very clear-cut concept! Hope that helped!
