Hello. I want to learn russian and I thought I'd ask what, if any, sorts of software or books are good for self-teaching? I don't have a lot of money to spare nor do I really have the time to take a college course. I would prefer to just get some software or books and do it that way. However, I need some structure to the whole process otherwise I will falter and won't finish the self-training. Any suggestions?

Try Pimsleur - they have series of audio lessons.

I agree with the other LJ user. Try Pimsleur Russian - it comes in 3 levels, and each of these levels has 30 lesson, each of which is 30 minutes long. You listen (and repeat!) just one lesson per day, which is very easy. And if you get the right version, you might even get reading lessons (my copy does).

Try ebay, but it's not really that cheap. Alternatively, you could try downloading them on Kazaa or some other P2P. Failing that, I might be able to be persuade to give you 'backup copies' for a small price.

GOOD LUCK!
