"The Power" - Snap

Those of you who know the song 'The Power' by Snap... there's a short 6-second introduction in Russian, but I can't quite make out what it says cos my Russian is crap.

It begins something like "Amerikanski filmo transepto tekhnolozhi.... blah blah blah... sputnik". I don't know how to upload an audio clip, so if you need one, I can email it to you (it's about 100kb). THANKS ^__^

I tried listening to it originally with slow-down software, and there was no way I'd've worked out the bits between teknolodzhi and kompyuterov. So a big thank you to you both ^__^

While I'm still here, can you recommend very recent Russian or Ukrainian music? I like mainstream pop, rock, and some alternative. Dance is nice too. Not Tatu because I have their stuff already. Many thanks once again!

I think you would like a song by Би-2 together with Brainstorm - Скользкие улицы (Brainstorm is actually not a Russian band). You can find the song here (http://www.bdva.ru/discographia.phtml).

Then there's Мумий Тролль - Медведица, a very addictive song ;) Here's a link (http://www.svalka.com.ru/keys/link/80) where you can find the video in QuickTime format.

I'm not much into Russian music (and I'm not Russian myself), but these songs were the first that came to my mind thinking of good recent Russian music. :)

As to Ukrainian music, a singer named Руслана (http://www.ruslana.com.ua/) won the Eurovision song contest this year. Haven't heard the winning song, but i guess it should be mainstream ;)

Well, being a 1980s teenager, I'm quite old-fashioned in my taste (and I do hate pop music:)))), but when it comes to Ukrainian Rock, you MUST listen to Vopli Vidoplyasova (Вопли Видоплясова) since they're absolutely FUN :) As for Russian Rock, I tend to agree with my younger countrymen because they're definitely more aware of what's going on on that field :))
