Very little. I've been working on it. It just don't have the same sponge-like quality for language as I did in high school. I guess not having as much free time will do that to ya.
Ah that explains it. I thought it a bit odd that you could write out spaciba but not see that that said Macho lol. But its all good. You'll get it with practice really.
Website helped me with the letters. ;c) It is one of the "simple phrases" I worked on today. I hope my university has the slavic languages program for Spring semester.
I really want to take a Russian class! I have been taking it self study for like 6 months and I've gotten up to about the same level in French in like 3 weeks after classes. No where around me has a Russian class ::sad face::
Because of degree requirements, I have to take French, Spanish, or German. Russian isn't even an alternative. I would just love to take the class, I'd even pay the extra $$$ and have it as an elective.
What are some of the methods of self study you've used? Web-only? Books? CD? CD-ROMs? I'm always open to suggestions.
'Щ' sounds like 's' in 'sure' or 'sugar'. If you learn to pronounce it, the word "ощущение" won't be that difficult. ощущенья = [ащ'ущ'эн'йа] Apostrophe means soft pronounciation.
I can see "macho" from "мачо" when I dissected it letter by letter. It's that other one that really seemed to mess me up when I was working on it. Oh well, I need more practice.
