It's "pod pushkoj" but in accordance with modern moscow pronunciation it should be "pat p'ushkaj".

You mean that the vowel in под isn't a schwa? I've heard that pre-tonic a and o are affected so that they sound more like "ah", but I didn't know it was that pronounced.

In standard Moscow pronunciation, unstressted pre-tonic "а" and "о" are [ʌ] (like "u" in "cut"), otherwise schwa.
