Privet everyone! Is there anyway to search this journal's archives?? IF not, can someone repost the lyric's to Gena's birthday song??

Also, since I've been in Russia, I've met many Russians eager to learn and speak with a native English speaker (moi!). Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make such interactions as helpful as possible?

Here you go:

I am also a native English speaker in Russia and I find it quite difficult to practice speaking with most of my Russian friends, because they want to practice English (I am an English teacher), and their English is stronger than my Russian.

I find I need to be quite firm about keeping it in Russian - in fact with one friend I get him to review the homework that I do (I am trying to teach myself at home as I have been unable to find a teacher in my town). When we do this it is very helpful! I think until my Russian gets to a conversational this will be a problem, but it is quite difficult to get it to that level since I so rarely converse in the language - even though I live in a town where I am the only native English speaker!

I guess my only suggestion is to be firm, or offer a language exchange.

maybe you'd try speaking Russian with them, while they reply you in English?

You may try this (http://blogsearch.yandex.ru). Just add << author="learn_russian" to your request.

I am developing a project which is both to help and to entertain learners of Russian. It is short video files combining sound of Russian songs and image of English translation. Feel free to check it here:

Use an alarm clock :)
Right now we will use English. Next hour we will use Russian. Third hour we will use insert your language here.
If you accidently used a word from wrong language for THIS hour - pay one dollar.
It works for me :)

I got my job before I came to Russia, and I found the company (BKC) by the recommendation of a professor who knew a former student who had worked for them. Most of the teachers are in Moscow, but I asked to be located outside the metropolis, since I am not a big fan of big cities.

I live in Klin, it is about 2 hours northwest of Moscow, on the way to Peter.

I do really enjoy my job, the town in pretty dull though. I will stay for another year in Russia (I have been here about 7 months), but I think I will move to Zelenograd next year.

You are also in Moscow? How are you liking it? If you ever want to visit a Russian town, you are welcome!
