This is the very very last try. Thanks for all the help! I got the stresses all right this time, I beleive!

I didn't even read the whole 3 minutes, it is too hard. Maybe I перегнулa some of your advices this time. I still can't pronounce the litle word пять. And I think I hear my self saying лэвый instead of левый (do I?) but it is just impossible to get everything right in the same recording. But it is good practice.

And I just realized - there is something in the very beginning I don't know how to handle. How do I pronounce the T:s in "идут тяжелые"?

If a native speaker could make a recording of the text, so that I could listen and compare, it would be fantastic... It is only 1,5 minutes:-)

What I hear is that you should use soft н in деревеньки, harder ы instead of и in обыгрывает and вырывает. everything else is ok) Sometimes I can barely hear any accent at all:)

ДАЛЕКИЕ ЗИМНИЕ ВЕЧЕРА
Под Москвой идут тяжелые бои...

А на окраине далекой сибирской деревеньки крикливая ребятня с раннего утра режется в бабки. Сумки с книжками валяются в стороне.

Обыгрывает всех знаменитый Мишка Босовило - коренастый малый в огромной шапке. Его биток, как маленький снаряд, вырывает с кона сразу штук по пять бабок. Мишка играет спокойно, уверенно. Прежде чем бить по кону, он снимает с правой руки рукавицу, сморкается по мужичьи на дорогу, прищуривает левый глаз... прицеливается... Все, затаив дыхание, горестно следят за ним. Мишка делает шаг... второй...- р-р-раз! - срезал. У Мишки есть бабушка, а бабушка, говорят, того... поколдовывает. У ребятишек подозрение, что Мишкин биток заколдован.

I've got a recording too, but it does sound... well... strange, so asked my friends to help me. The record number 1 is mine, I have some naturally strange pronunciation, but the rest is a southern accent. The record number 2 is from my friend from Siberia. There hopefully will be one more today, from a girl from StPetersburg. I hope they'll be of help.

Hello!
Excellent job! It looks you've worked on your pronunciation a lot. Sometimes I can't hear accent, sometimes it's slight. But everything what you're saying is understandable. But I see you want to be perfect in this, so I tried to pay attention to each and every sound of yours.

1. Make "Л" softer in Далёкие and "Н","K" softer in "деревеНЬКи". Try to make your tongue WIDER, as if you were going to say "ли", "ни", "ки", but say "лё","н'ки" instead.
2. Pay attention to "ы" in обЫгрывает (in И we have wide tongue, which is located quite close to the lips. In Ы, on the contrary, we should make it NARROW and pull it BACK, closer to our throat. You can try biting a pen or a finger - when saying Ы, your tongue should NOT touch the pen, because it's back, close to your throat). Don't forget to say "т" at the end of this word, too.
3. Make "р" softer in "коренастый". It sounds like "рэ", but should be "ри"(due to reduction in non-stressed syllables). Again, make the tongue wider for doing this (you should feel sides of your side teeth with the sides of your tongue).
4. Work on your Ж. Many europeans have this problem, they pronounce it too soft. The tip of your tongue should go up, not down. It should stretch towards alveolus on the upper palate. AND put your LIPS FORWARD, I believe it will help you. The air goes through the front teeth, not side teeth. Your tongue should not feel the sides of your teeth, because it's not a soft sound. So the tongue is narrow.
In russian schools they teach us to remember: "ЖИ, ШИ пиши с буквой "и"". We have this rule because we, russian native speakers, pronounce it as [ЖЫ], [ШЫ] (so we want to write it that way, too). Ж,Ш are always pronounced hard (not soft): широкий [шы], режется [жэ], прежде [жде](д soft, but ж hard), по-мужичьи [жы], у ребятишек [шэ], больше [шэ]. You pronounce "шаг" very well. Ж is a pair sound, like in Г-К, Б-П, Д-Т. Ш+voice = Ж.
5. Идут тяжёлые - think about swedish "bera:tta". But make it softer. After "иду" put everything in your mouth as if you are going to say "ть" or "ти", keep it for a second without saying anything. Then say [тижолые].Remember about hard Ж ;)
Even without working on all of the above, your pronunciation is very, very good for a foreigner. I even think this is the best pronunciation I've ever heard from a person not from the former soviet union. Many people from the -stans (Turkmenistan etc.), who have been living in Russia for many years are speaking much worse than you! You had very good teachers.
