Hey guys, just a quick question for you.

How do you express the idea "____ for the sake of ______".  Like "punishment for the sake of punishment" or "punishment for punishment's sake"?  The specific phrase I'm looking for is "bureaucracy for bureaucracy's sake".  I'm sure a samyi goes in there somewhere, but I'm not quite sure.

Thanks!

Eh? Has anyone ever proclaimed to pursue or admitted to pursuing the goal of bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy?

There is not even a word about "proclaiming" the idea of bureaucrazy for the sake of it. Yet it is often the case *)

Actually you were quite right! "Сам" really fits here: бюрократия ради самой бюрократии (bureaucracy for the sake of bureaucracy itself ); искусство ради самого искусства (art for the sake of the art itself); here "сам" serves to make a statement even stronger.
