We are preparing a final performance after a 4-weeks beginnig course (Korean students). We want to choose a Russian song to sing. I am thinking of sth melodic (Koreans sing really well)... And they want sth up-to-date, maybe rock or pop-rock... Zemfira?..
What would you recommend?

Why don't you go with a good ole classic one -- would "Подмосковные вечера (http://nevskiu.moskva.com/fajlboks/retro-podborka/18206472.html)" do?

P.S.

I mean, "up-to-date" and "sth melodic" is a sheer contradiction in terms :)

Zemfira, Bi2, Splin.

if you want a breathtaking song, take "Небо Лондона"

ДДТ "Что такое осень (http://www.music70-90.ru/file/1347/13217)", then?

you might call me a bit old fashioned, but why not something from russian rock ? i mean ДДТ, Аквариум, Машина Времени. lots of melody, lot of things really still up-to-date, and i am quite sure - there are a lot of songs to choose from that kind. if i was up to it - наш дом or марионетки from Машина Времени - is my choice.

Not a very good choice, language-wise -- I can't believe your ears don't flop when she stresses the final A in "небо ЛондонА" :)

I vote for Russian rock. there's rather wide choice of melodic songs. Nautilus Pompilius, for example, has a lot of them.

Yep... Bunch of Koreans singing "Goodbye America". Listening to that would make my day... (possibly even a week)

I thought about that one too :) but sure this song is melodic, doesn't it?

+10000000
Or anything of that nature ("Над границей тучи ходят хмуро" would have been especially nice if you had students from Japan).

We have just an incredible amount of good, simple classical and folk songs, why do you need to necessary go with modern rock?

Think about it, would you be able to keep a straight face if you make you students do something like "ПММЛ" (or anything from that album)?

I vote for this song:

Виктор Цой "Когда твоя девушка больна"

It's not too hard to sing, it's melodic, the words are fairly simple. Plus, it totally gets stuck in your head. Let us know what you choose!

Of course there're multiple choices, but I would recommed some song of Melnitsa (Мельница) just because I like their music! :o)

I know he died in 1990. But, it's rock, it's melodic, and I'm just giving options.

No need to be a prick.

"Би-2 — Достучаться до небес (http://www.mediafire.com/?2tozbbkn0wz)"

I'm not sure, if I understand what you seek, but it's nearly the only song I can stand from our modern rock or whatever it is called. Neither do I have an idea of how to procure a karaoke version (music only), if there is any, and nor am I guitar player to make sense of something like this (http://muzland.ru/songs.html?auth=88&song=4).

My swedish students were really encouraged by "Кафе" - easy to get text, classical rock melody.I would advise Дальняя дорога, Ты моя радость, Товарищ сержант.

You mean choir singing, don't you?

Maybe you need to sing something more Russian, althow pop and rock are Western music.
I could show a song Kolotushka (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MT36L2RvF6I) based on a classical poem, written by Nikolay Zabolotskiy in 1929, full of Russian folklore (even a little pagan) sense.

Also it coul be something by Kalinov Most bang, e.g. their last hit (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2A8_KRmc7pA), but their lyrics are toooo obsure and sophisticated.

машина времени:
Марионетки (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=evjmiZ8XRAs).
<http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=xe_mahdqkae>место где свет. this one is quite new (4 years or smth)...

or if you want to do something marginal - take this one -
снежинка (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=jWHYB6T_SD4). it's not THAT classic, still it might be fun. and it's melodic and everything.
