Hello!

Just one sentence this time! Does this sound natural:

Я часто выучиваю песни наизусть.

I'm talking about when learning laguages, learning songs by heart, listening to them a hundred times until you realise that you are singing to your self without noticing (I believe they have then been memorized in a special place in the brain ;-)

Doesent Russian literature teachers tell the children to learn poems by heart? How would you say it in Russian if your teacher forced you to vyuchit' one poem every week?

that's ok, you may also use "заучиваю" instead of "выучиваю"

я часто учу - i'd prefere this variant

also, i'd prefer using verb "запоминать" instead of "учить"
like "я часто запоминаю песни наизусть"

Запоминать is "to store in memory" rather than "to learn by heart" which, in turn, is rather "выучивать/заучивать".

Why, it is natural. It's just that many things in Russian can be said in more than just one correct way :)

As for me учу наизусть is more natural than выучиваю, but it' ok too.

I'd prefer to say учу наизусть.
