Hi, I have three questions :))

1. One of my dictionaries lists deverbal forms for verbs; for instance, for "бегать" it has "бегая", "бегающий" and "бегавший". I understand бегая but under what circumstances would you use the other two forms? I swear I've never seen them anywhere.

2. How do you say "to get bored (with sth)"? As in, "I played netball for two years, but then I got bored with it"?

3. Recently I mentioned to someone that I'd been avoiding Russians on LJ because I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to write properly :B I wrote "До сих пор я избегала Русских потому что я боялась, что я не смогу писать правильно." I'm pretty sure the second half of this sentence is wrong (of course, the first half could be wrong too). How would you translate my sentence?

бегающий is a participle and its functions are somewhat similar to English -ing form: Я смотрел на бегающих по двору детей - I watched children running around in the yard. I am actually puzzled that you have never seen this form before, it is very common. However, it is more often used in writing as it sounds "heavy" in oral speech. Бегавший is the same but for the past tense.

to get bored - мне надоело
я играл в нетбол два года, а потом мне надоело

До сих пор я избегала русских потому что боялась, что не смогу писать правильно. - your version was pretty good actually, but you should avoid unnecessary personal pronouns and unnecessary capitalization.

1) For example:
бегающий человек - a man that is running from time to time or randomly
бегущий человек - a man that is running now, in one direction
бегавший человек - a man that was running from time to time

2) Мне надоело

3) Almost correct. But I would remove extra 'я':
"До сих пор я избегала Русских потому что я боялась, что я не смогу писать правильно."

1. "Бегающий" == "repeatedly running", "бегавший" == "repeatedly running in the past". Both are participles.
2. "Я два года играла в нетбол (or whatever the Russian word is), но он мне наскучил."

2. Or "он мне надоел" or "мне надоело".
3. "Я избегала русских, потому что боялась, что не смогу правильно писать". "Русских" is not capitalised, "я" can be omitted.

В русском нет специального слова для перевода netball, поэтому, наверное, так и надо говорить - нетбол. Это нечто вроде женского баскетбола, но с особыми правилами.

It should be "русских" with a lower-case "p" here. Names of ethnic groups are not capitalized in Russian.

Hmm, it was lower-case in the actual message, then I changed it here because it was referring to people. Moral of the story: go with your first instinct :)
