I teach kids Russian in an American school, and every year, we have a sort of "последний звонок" event, where they do skits, sing songs and show off what they learned in class.

Anyhow, one of my groups has expressed deep interest in singing for their part... specifically rap or hip hop type stuff.

My problem, is it's hard to find a song with relatively clean lyrics that will not be too difficult for a group of 16 and 17 year olds to sing. (Yeah, most people won't understand what they're saying, but there are a few other russian speakers on the staff, and if it ever slips that we had the kids singing "dirty words", we'd get in big trouble. In American schools, everything must be PC. Drives me nuts.)

Does anyone know of any type of hip hop or rap type songs?
Suggestions for songs of any kind are welcome.

I just don't want to be stuck with черный бумер which one of my colleagues chose. I could not listen to that day in and day out while they practice for the next few months... (and yes I know that song is rather fast).

I'd try something from the early albums of "Кирпичи". However, there are some songs with... er... not so clean lyrics but trere are also the songs that are OK for your purposes.

I am not a huge rap fan but i suggest you to try some of Decl Songs, most of them don't have "dirty words", and the meaning is quite peaceful.

You can read the lyrics of one of his songs here: http://music.greenwater.ru/groupe_info.php?groupe=4952&sites=3&song=105426

Maybe "Diskoteka Avaria"'s songs? But I don't know, how much it fits(?) hip hop.

I'd say that ВИА Чаппа 'По волнам' would be wonderful for 'последний звонок'. Still I'm not sure it's, er, simple enough.
http://www.viachappa.ru/mp3/?release=3 - the third one
But you can try it!

Early Дискотека Авария perfectly fits. It's exactly hip hop-style party songs.

The best of the best is the New Year song:
http://www.karaoke.ru/song/2577.htm
but I'm not sure if such topical song may be ok.
Another varient is "Если хочешь остаться":
http://www.karaoke.ru/song/6386.htm
there are few hip hop lines in this song (the most is a pop kind, but is is perfect from the moral point of view)

I tried imagine how it could sounds - American music (both rap and hip-hop) in Russian, but with American/English's accent - and I've failed... It's unimaginable...

Well, I hardly ever have seen people, who could speak foreign language without accent (bilinguas, like me are exeption). It's very difficult to got use to another phonetics. I remember, my Spanish teaher was "Peruano" he had lived in Russian-speaking area of Ukraine for 20 yeras, but...spoke with noticeable acent. The same is true about me - I speak four languages, but ...with more or less strong accent in each one))

In my (very mild) Russian classes,

even in the UK, the "verbs of motion" handout was a comic of a man picking up his secretary and taking her to his dacha for the weekend

они отоехали от города
...
Сергей подоехал к двору
...
Секретарша открыла ворота
...

This isn't even addressing the (educational) films we've watched
