Hi Everyone,

I know these are a lot of questions, however I have a test Friday, and was sick for most of this unit, so I have a few random questions/problems I cannot find answers to in my book or verb book.

1.  To say a view of, you use вид+на+ what case?
2.  What is the genetive form of the cardinal numbers семь и восемь?
3.  How do I conjugate the following verbs:  пылесосит, чистить, навести?

Lastly, and most important, diminutive noun suffixes.  I know that for masculine nouns you add either ИК, ЧИК, ОК, или ЕК.  and for feminine nouns you add.  К(А) или ИЧКА.  But how do I know which to add?  For example, дом would be домик, but why not домчик или домок?  My book gives no indication of how to when and where to use these endings?  And why would I want to add these endings to words anyway?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

2. семи, восьми
3. пылесОшу (but this is really colloquial), пылесОсишь, пылесОсит, пылесОсим, пылесОсите, пылесОсят.
чищу, чистишь, чистит, чистим, чистите, чистят.
наведУ, наведёшь, наведёт, наведём, наведёте, наведУт. (ё is always accented)

ЧИК only comes when there is ц or ч (or may be a couple of other consonants) in the end: заяц - зайчик; луч - лучик; конец - кончик.

To explain the difference between ИК and ОК is quite different; you really have to learn what is used and what not. (The kids do the same and they often make mistakes, so this is perfectly normal).

By the way, there are even more diminitive suffixes: you could say дом, домик, домишко; собака, собачка, собачонка, собаченция; книга, книжка, книжонка, книжечка, книженция...

I fear there is no rule of when to use which ending, you'll have to memorize a bunch of 'partial' generalizations and a bunch of specific cases. :( I fear even more, that different endings may come from different areas of my country (haven't you noticed that people from different regions of Russia have no strong accents? We regain on vocabulary and diminutives).
