What's the phrase in Russian for

"The tube that connects to my showerhead has sprung a leak and now I can't take a shower without spraying water all over the bathroom." ?

I need to call a repair man... And the prospect is scary enough without vocabulary issues.

On a non related note, are there any learn Ukrainian communities running around by any chance?

"У меня прохудился душевой шланг, вода разбрызгивается по всей ванной." Something like that, if I understand your situation correctly.

And I think "сломался душ" would be enough.

Useful vocabulary:

shower = душ
showerhear = головка дУша
the tube = шланг
tap = кран
to leak = протекать
gasket = прокладка
to shut the water down = перекрывать воду
lifting pipe = стояк

payment = пузырь, поллитра (don't take this one seriously! :P )

To tell you the truth, most likely the master will either replace the pipe, or give you a broken one and ask to buy a new good one. In any case there is nothing to be scared of. :)

"У меня течёт шланг от душа."
It'll be easier and cheaper, however, to unscrew the leaking hose, take it to a shop, buy another one with the same thread and screw it to place. It takes neither instruments, if you are strong enough, nor skill.

The exact translation:
"Шланг моего душа прохудился и я не могу принять душ, не забрызгав водой всю ванную"

Short version:
"У меня прохудился шланг душа" :)

Ukrainian? Why Ukrainian?

You have to unscrew exactly ONE nut -- that's all that it takes. Is it so overwhelmingly difficult?

Hmm. If you go to Kyiv, Russian is enough for a starter. Lviv or Ivano-Frankivsk is another story.
Honestly, I seriously doubt that somebody in Russian community will wholeheartedly consult you in Ukrainian issues, as well as it is quite unlikely that somebody in Ukrainian communities will praise your questions concerning Russian :)

Two, actually, unless quem98 is going to replace the showerhead as well.

How can one speak something that doesn't exist? ;)
A perverted Russian filled with hundreds of not-so-long-ago artificially invented words can't be a separate language.

Well, it really exists -- it's just that I couldn't call the pidgin that most people in Ukraine speak a genuine Ukrainian language.

I've yet to find a properly functioning shower head of any considerate vintage. ^_^
