When does one use намного vs гораздо? Is it "Она заслуживает намного лучшего" или "Она заслуживает гораздо лучшего?"

It seems both words are interchangeable.
I can't remember any situation when one word is more preferable to use than other.
It's like 'quite' and 'pretty much' + an adjective in English.

Не правильно ни то ни то. "Она заслуживает лучшего" - это устойчивая фраза, её не следует усиливать ни словом "намного", ни словом "гораздо".
Также не путать с "она оставляет желать лучшего" (That means "She is not so good").

"Намного" и "гораздо" - это синонимы, относящиеся к различным пластам лексики:
"намного" - нейтральное, литературное,
"гораздо" - эмициональное, разговорное.

"намного" - слово более древнее, славяно-германское, ср. со шведским "många"
"гораздо" - слово более позднее, славянское, ср. укаринское выражение:
"Били помiж нас разни негоразди" - "Были между нами разные конфликты"

Please note that the working language of this community is English, because many learners of Russian here are on a very early stage in their study and cannot benefite from entirely Russian comments. It is OK to post or comment in Russian, but you are expected to provide translation.

SInce you decided to consult the learners of Russian, it would be really good not to make mistakes in your Russian. It's not "Не правильно ни то ни то", it's "Неправильно ни то, ни то," though it's stylistically awful anyway, and it's much better to say "И то, и другое - неправильно".

Look, I know [livejournal.com profile] wolfie_18, I know that he can understand what I have written. You behave yourself impolite when you begin to give your off-top advices during the conversation of two other persons. I do not "consult the learners of Russian", I do consult the learner.
De plus, je dois dire, qu'il ne faut pas restricter l'utilisation d'autre langues que l'anglais. Ça, c’est ridicule: apprendre le russe en parlant seulment anglais.

This is a community for English speakers who are trying to learn Russian. That's why the community's profile says:
ATTENTION! The working language of this community is English. It's okay to post in Russian, but you are expected to provide a comprehensive English translation.

Some other people might've benefited from you explanation had they been able to read it. [livejournal.com profile] wolk_off didn't do anything wrong or out of line; he was just trying to point that out to you. Your rude response wasn't necessary.

Also, "restricter" isn't a French word, and you missed an e in "seulement".

Wow, it's a good thing he's the only one who reads the comments on his posts, jackass.

"Она заслуживает лучшего" only.
