специальная школа - a school with advanced level of (normally it was a foreign language, as, in this case, German; these schools had 4 or 5 hours of lanbguage a week, as opposed to an ordinary school where you were looking at two hours a week)

- Wonderful. So, this week we will be meeting a famous person Nicole... etc.

It was cold and windy on top (of what? are they climbing a mountain?) The city was lying in front of them as if big, flat plate of milk (the fog looks like the milk and the valley or whatever the city is in, is the plate) but the edges of the plate were invisible in the fog.

It was difficult to imagine that behind the beautiful facades there is a row of adjoining/connected [back]yards, dirty and narrow.

Yes - even maybe something like "Are you going to a lecture by any chance?"

(that's assuming that "грязныя и узных" is actually "грязных и узких". I would really appreciate if you type closely to the original text so people don't have to solve a puzzle befoe they get to answer the actual question)

As above and some minor stuff

Fine, I'd gladly take a walk with Nicole. She's a cheerful girl who understands music.

I believe it is not "I'd take", it's "I'll take" - not a subjunctive mood, just plain future tense.

I'll glady talk a walk with Nicole. She's a cheerful girl who understand music.

"-то" is emphatic: "as for me, I'll gladly..." (as contrasted with someone else who won't).

You're friends with Marina. Ask her to take lecture notes.

OK. I just wanted to highlight "я-то" somehow.

Sergei, you don't care whether you will pass the entrance exam or not, but I do care.

I'm not very good at English, and I can translate from English to Russian better than from Russian to English, but I suppose that this phrase would be closer to the origin in such form:
It's only you who is never busy, Tatiana.

How about “You alone never have anything to do, Tatiana.”?
Don't like the word “busy” in this context :)

maybe. I even don't know whether my variant is grammatically correct.

Mind the context (which we don't know in full, by the way): this sentence is connected with the previous ones.

- Ask Marina to take the lecture notes.
- She's not coming, she's busy today.
- You are the one who's never busy, Tatiana... (sarcasm: he means that she's never "too busy to attend a lecture", i.e. is studying too diligently). So I believe the word "busy" should be here.

'Listen, could you take a walk with Nicole TODAY?'

сегодня = today

It's hard to tell without more context, but I think "ходите" here is short for "ходите не лекции", attending lectures. If that's correct, then the overall mood is an emphatic reminder: "But Marina attends these lectures with you, too. Ask her to take notes."

Oops, make that "ходите НА лекции".

Yes. That was the best translation.

It could be “She's not coming, she's got things to do. — You alone never have anything to do, Tatiana.”

more variants

'What bad luck', said Tanya sadly when she was getting ready for school.

It's simply a disaster.

We have German classes every day. It's a special school (school of advanced study), after all!
Great! So this week we'll be meeting the famous Nicole Steffen from Stuttgart, Germany.

After the lessons, Tanya came up to Sergey.

'Look, could you take Nicole for a walk today?'

And where are you going to, Tatyana Vladimirovna? - asked Sergei sarcastically / ironically
+1 by any chance. Or if it was really said sarcatically, not ironically, one could use a tag question, i.e. Not to a lecture, are you?

'Sergei, is everything OK? You act as if it's not and it seems to me that everything is not alright.

- You and Marina are classmates. Ask her to take the lecture notes.

'She's not going today. She's busy.

'You alone are never busy, Tatyana. (I agree with Oryx and Crake that it's better to repeat 'busy' here)

'Fine / OK, I'll glady take Nicole for a walk. She's a jolly girl and knows much about music.

Наверху - upstairs (if they are on the roof of a building) or as Oryx and Crake suggested - on top of sth.

Maybe, but I don't see any harm in the word "busy" either.
