You know the drill already,
The writing scheme on the left, to start where the red point is and follow the arrows. A phrase starting with the letter in the middle. And a word starting with a simpler variant of the letter, as I usually write it in the parentheses on the right.

The phrases and their translations today are:

¹ - a cartoon hero
² - can you pronounce this tongue-twister faster than I do? ;)
³ - phrase from an ABC, telling the kids there are no such words (Operation "ы" I mentioned in the previous post is ridiculous from this point of view as well), and an Owl being ever the wise one, the counsellor
⁴ - a radio station
⁵ - a children's book

Sushki look like pretzels that aren't twisted. And yay, the rest of the alphabet! Thanks for going through the trouble of doing this. I appreciate it, and I'm sure others do too.

I would say they are more like small, hard bagels. I can't really think of anything that resembles them in America. I think they are nothing like pretzels; they are bigger, lighter in colour and not salty. ;)

I don't think I've ever had a bagel, let alone a sushka. I wonder if I can get them here?

Bagels or sushki?? :) I see you live in Louisiana, I cannot imagine that bagels would be so hard to find there. As for sushki, try a Russian grocery store.

In Toronto something quite close to sushka is sold in Italian stores under the name of "taralli". Maybe there are some Italian stores close to you?

If the pictures in google are any indication of bagel's real size, you should make them exceptionally small to make some sushkas :)

What you call pretzels, I think we would call them "кренделёк с солью", sushka is more meager (lenten?), (that's why I don't like them, hehe). Yet they are closer in size than bagels :)

I have never tasted taralli, but judging by google pictures they are close enough.

Is the taste also close?
