The government residence at Belovezhskaya Pushcha Nature Reserve in Belarus is also where the leaders of the Russian Federation, Ukraine and Belarus - Boris Yeltsin, Leonid Kravchuk and Stanislau Shushkevich - famously met on 8 December 1991 to announce the dissolution of the USSR by what has been termed the "Беловежские соглашения", i.e. Belovezhskiye Agreements.
