"Подпольный", "подполье", but it had the more criminal/dessident/illegal context, so better use just the "андерграунд" transliteration.

this word in Russian is borrowed from English: андерграунд. The adjective would be андерграундный

I even suppose it's андеграунд, which is phonetically more correct.
BTW, an 'underground sex symbol' is something I'v never heard of but should and will check out a.s.a.p. :-)

underground is "подполье" if you are talking about war, partisans or illegal activity against government. if you're talking bout contre-culture it is андеграунд
