Jul. 12th, 2006 01:51 pmCan someone help me out a bit? ^__^
I'm currently in Beijing studying Chinese, which has made my babushka is a bit sad/bitter than I'm not studying Russian instead. So, I thought that it would be nice if I sent her a postcard in Russian. Unfortunately, I can basically only speak it with any proficiency and when I write, my spelling and grammar are horrible. So, if anyone wouldn't mind, could someone translate a little something for me? I would heart you forever.
I am here in Beijing and class is going well. In my class, there is a boy who was born in Saint-Petersburg, but grew up in Rome. He knows a little Russian, so we sometimes speak it together. I hope you are doing well. See you in August!
спасибо!

Date: 2006-07-12 05:54 am (UTC)Дорогая бабушка!
Я в Пекине. Учеба идет хорошо. В моем классе есть мальчик, который родился в Санкт-Петербурге, но вырос в Риме. Он немножко знает русский язык, и мы иногда говорим с ним по-русски. Надеюсь, что у тебя все хорошо. До встречи в августе!

Date: 2006-07-12 06:24 am (UTC)Literally, this means "well-marching is [our] class [a bunch of people: Russian word класс doesn't have the meaning like "time spend at the class"]"
Он знает маленький русский
Literally, this means "he knows [his] small Russian..." -- what? the subject is obviously omitted.
но выращен в Роме
leaving alone that this city is Рим in Russian, the verb you use is that that only applies to plants or animals, like "I'm growing my potatoes."
ты делаешь хорошо
This can't be said in Russian. Literally, it means something like "you are making good {things to somebody]".
Etc.
Machine translation sux.
