Help with participles
Mar. 7th, 2006 10:34 pmI'm trying to take the sentence 'Ирина пишет письмо сестре, которую она любит,' and turn the bolded portion into a participle. Does the following sentence accomplish that?
Любящая сестру Ирина, пишет письмо ей.
I think it's wrong, but am not sure how to make it right. Any help would be appreciated!

Date: 2006-03-08 09:35 am (UTC)Ирина, любящая сестру, пишет ей письмо.
But: Любящая свою сестру Ирина часто пишет ей письма.
You should also bear in mind that such constructions are rarely used in speech. You will use them frequently in writing, though.

Date: 2006-03-08 11:11 am (UTC)The question was not how to use the participle, but how to convert a certain part of the sentence using participle. Anyway, when explaining how to do that, we also have to explain that those constructions are not in active use, at least not in spoken Russian.
