If I remember correctly, there's a Russian idiom about working while you're sick. Maybe болеть на ногах? It's seriously bothering me...

Something like that, yes - переносить на ногах.
Она перенесла грипп на ногах. (She continued working when having flu.)
Они предпочитают переносить болезни на ногах, но не брать больничный. (They prefer to keep working when they are sick, and not to take a sick leave.)
