My book only teaches past and present active participles!!!!!

I'm using "Russian: A self-teaching guide", and I've officially finished the book about 2 months ago. However, after visiting this website, I've now learned that there are gerunds and more participles to learn! I was wondering if someone can list and explain the remaining participles and how they're used and all that fun stuff.

Well, I'm not quite there yet but I found some web sites that might be helpful to you. Maybe doing a good search for "Russian gerunds" or for "Russian verbal adverbs" would help you find what you're looking for too.

Деепричастие, of course, is not exactly a gerund. It is translated as one, but is not one. For example, it is always an action and cannot be a subject ("living is easy") or object ("stop speeding"), and is not part of a verb construct ("I have been reading").
