With my studies, I'm getting more into the grammer. May I ask for a slew of websites that will help me with this? I've so far studied nominative, accusitive, and instrumental. I'd like to have more resources than my tutor. Any books to recommend that provide mostly grammer is a blessing.

Ahhh, first off, it's "grammar".

Second, yeah, there aren't a whole lot of things just... THERE... at the book store. If you live near a college/university, I'd go to their library/resource center for foreign languages, and ask what they'd recommend. If all you've studied is nominative, accusitive, and instrumental cases, then I think you need a pretty basic grammar book at this point. But, before going through all this, why not ask your tutor? They should know where you are and where you need to go.

Also, why not google it? Or go to amazon? You can find almost anything on Amazon.com.

I find the series "English Grammar for Students of. . ." to be very good. They map English grammar to that of other languages and explain the differences rather clearly and concisely. They're especially good if you're fairly uncertain of English grammar to begin with. I bought English Grammar for Students of Russian during my summer at Middlebury and it was tattered by the end. Great resource and easily obtained from Amazon.com

Because this sort of thing works for me, I bought one of those laminated “reference” sheets for Russian. It has all the cases and how to decline the nouns.

first off, I'm dyslexic, and I tend to spell things phonetically. and I hate spell check.

I asked this community first so I don't spend money on books that won't help me. And I have gone to google and amazon, but I wanted another's opinion, incase someone knew a better site/book than I had in mind.

i second the rec for English Grammar for Students of Russian-helps you understand grammar, period.

Also: Essential Russian Grammar by Kemple, it's really cheap, you can't go wrong.

Русский Язык: Практическая грамматика с упражнениями, Пулькина, Захава-Некрасова, ISBN # 5-200-03261-x highly recommended, but probably harder to find.

and i love Мои Друзья Падежи!! Булгакова, Захаренко, Красных, ISBN 5-88337-033-0

finally, i just bought Russian Grammar by James Levine (do you think i have enough Russian grammar books??;) haven't had a chance to go through it, but it looks promising. it's a workbook with excercises, answers in the back, which would be helpful if you're learning on your own.

Hello, my name is Orian, and I just joined this community. I live in WV, but in two more weeks I will be driving to Indiana University to take part in SWSEEL, their summer Slavic language program. I did it last year, and I highly recommend it. In preparation for it this year, I'm currently studying through Essentials of Russian Grammar a complete guide for students and professionals, by Nicholas Maltzoff, ISBN 0-8442-4244-6. It has EVERYTHING, and I mean everything including minor details of usage and such that are missed in regular textbooks and classes.

I would love to be a friend of your battersby journal, for the same purpose of helping myself to learn the language, esp. from other English students. I cloud also give you more info on SWSEEL or anything else I might know. Please let me know. Good to meet you.
