Seriously speaking

Having taken a look at this, I have to seriously warn my fellow native Russian speakers against converting this community into a travelling circus. This is not the place where everybody can exercise his/her humour skills, however great they can be (unfortunately, in most cases they aren't, anyway.) This is not even the place for those native speakers who cannot write and/or speak their native language properly and try to improve their skills: there is a special natural reserve for them, called pishu_pravilno.This is, though, the place for helping non-native speakers to learn Russian language. Or, to be more exact, this is the community for the non-native speakers who learn Russian, where native speakers can help them by answering their question, or by posting links to language-related resources, or by posting their own explanations concerning the Russian language topics not really covered by textbooks etc. I would dearly love to ask everybody to avoid too much of a travelling circus here. I actually like it when the native speakers ask questions. It helps me learn and understand things better. Don't be so overcontrolling. This community is great the way it is. Just because you're a moderator doesn't mean this is solely your community. It's a public community, and you have to realize that maybe the public has questions that YOU may not think are important, but everyone else may think they're important. And like I already stated, I haven't ever seen one "stupid" or "irrelevant" question asked here.

I'm a RSL speaker... This group is supposed to be for people like me. And I say... Let people say whatever they want to.

I think that the problem was not so much with the question as with the answers. Some people thought it was an invitation to chat and started flooding the discussion with absolutely irrelevant (and not very funny, if you ask me) jokes.

1. Please re-read my post, if you please. I am not against people asking questions. I am against the attempts to convert the community into a cheap circus.
2. This community isn't mine, but since I am assigned by the community founder to be one of the maintainers, I have to maintain it - the way I can. Bad luck for those who want some Real Russian Online Fun :)

I tend to say yes... but there's only one small thing. If only the original poster wasn't a native speaker! One has to be, er, very naive, not to expecting a major flood after a question like that.
This wasn't entirely the original poster's fault, that's right. Most of my sarcasm goes to those who are only too happy to Drop All Them Bombz They Got.

It'd be one thing if it were Sanskrit or Latin, but Russian is a living language spoken by living, breathing, animated people. I find the mischief-making very cute and endearing.

What would Cheburashka be without Shapoklyak? You need mischief-making characters to keep things interesting.

The only rule I see in the info are "no abusive posts/comments". Nothing there about just being silly asses. =P

I agree that Russian is a living language, but it is still a language anyway. Again, I'm not against the idea of animating the community life by some informal stuff. I'm against the idea of converting the community into a place where silly asses can freely and endlessly flood the ones who seriously learn the language with what the abovementioned asses regard as The Fun.
I'd be just happy if it was really funny, but the real problem was that 99.9 per cent of it wasn't.

i was actually wondering what that word meant, as i've seen it on my Russian friends' blogs and as im not a native speaker, I was confused about the meaning. =) if it hadn't been you, i would've asked this question myself.
