Anyone have any idea what these mean?

послематчевая лотерея (in a football context)
шапкозакидательских настроений

Also, what is in a suffix? I found the word опустошенность in a text and it seems it has a different suffix to what is in the dictionary.

to me (without the context) it looks like some lottery among the football fans, not among football teams or players... Can you provide some context maybe?

Suffixes.

Мы их шапками закидаем! - 'We'll pile them with our hats!' means 'we'll win easilly, without any efforts or weapons'.

опустошение and опустошённость

These words are subtly different. Опустошённость is a concrete property of something: я люблю опустошённость этого места, I like the emptyness of this place. Опустошение is more of an abstract notion: здесь царит опустошение, emptyness reigns here. Опустошение can also mean the act of emptying.

Penalty shootout. Yeah, it's a lottery (even I know that, and you probably cannot find a lesser soccer fan than I) :))))))

I would describe the difference as a feeling of emptiness (опустошённость) and a physical devastation (опустошение.)

Wow. What kind of a dictionary is that? 8-)

See above:

Spiritual bankrupcy, yeah, that's... bold! :))

I don't have to prove anything. If you are interested, please read [livejournal.com profile] ru_translate: the community members regularly publish the "pearls of wisdom" found in Lingvo.
