as a supplement to wolk_off's thread about listening to russian radio on the net, i'd like to recommend watching russian TV online! i try to do it often, and i like it a lot, you can get the news (perhaps not unbiased, but...), there's practice with russian, and there's visual input to help you understand things. if you have high-speed internet i highly recommend it.

the most reliable and useful site i've found for this is from www.vesti.ru:
http://www.vesti.ru/fotovideo.html?page=1

click on any of the видео links to watch the corresponding segment from the day's russian news program. it's updated at least once or twice a day, it seems to me.

it's been interesting keeping track of their coverage of the pension/social-welfare 'uprising' of recent weeks.

Concerning "biased/non-biased" issue, Вести may not be the brightest star of the independent journalism since this is the official government-owned channel (Российское телевидение) which praises every single move of the government, even the ugliest one. They do speak pretty good Russian, though, so it's an useful source in terms of learning Russian :)
