Translation help

I can read a little Russian, but have trouble reading handwritten scripts. A friend came across these old photographs of her grandparents, and would like to know what the writing says. There are four pictures.

101: looks like yiddish. Certainly not Russian.

103:
"На долгую память дорогим тёте и дяде и дорогим: сестричке и братикам от их брата и сестёр. Изя, 12л; Шура, 9л; Рая, 4г. Орша, 26/7 1932" Translation: "For our dear aunt and uncle and our dear sister and brothers from their brother and sisters; Izya(Isaak), 12yo; Shura(Alexandra) 9yo; Raya(Raisa), 4yo. Orsha (a city), July-26-1932."

105:
"На добрую память дорогой сестре Раисе и дорогому брату Борису и дорогим племянникам от ваших Лиза и Хаима. Орша, 26/7 1932." Translation: "For our dear sister Raisa and dear brother Boris and our dear nephews from your Liza and Haim. Orsha, July-26-1932."

099:
"На (...) память (...) от сына (...) который н(...) Н(...) Слу(...) 4 года. 24 октября. (...)" This one is badly damaged, so mostly guessing: "From ... son... which... 4 years. October 24, (can't figure out name of the city)."

I am horrible at reading Hebrew script, but the bottom of it is signed hay-alef-yod-mem, or "Haim". That's the same name as in img105.

Can anyone read yiddish?

It is yiddish in handwritten Hebrew script. Can't read it, though.

I would say, that the name which previos translators read as "Раиса"(Raisa), seems to be read as "Рося"(Rosja), I have aunt in Kharkov, and her name right like this. The fist text 100% yiddish. Unfortunately the only person who could help me to read it - my granny, and she left in 1995.

Hard sign in "отъ" marks this as old orthography (i.e. before 1917). Oh, and the uniform of the guy on the picture confirms this. So "...4 года" is, probably, "1904 года".

I think the last discernible word is not a city name. I read this as "Майёр..." (cf. 'а' in "сына", 'й' in "который"). Though, 'ё' is very peculiar, as it was not used in the old orthography.

There is also a date, but I'm not familiar with the
format used back then. Maybe '91/7/28, but I'm probably
wrong because europeans usually write the day before the month.
So it might be 21st of ...., 18 or 28 maybe?

It may very well be Rosja. As we (my father and I) piece all of your helpful information together we are fairly certain that the people in the photos are relatives of my great grandmother Rose. She and her husband Benjamin ("Boris"?) came here just after the turn of the century.

We are now beginning to believe that the "mystery" Yiddish-backed photo is Rose's parents and brothers. She and her sister, aka "the sisters" were the only ones to come to America, and the rest of the family stayed behind. We suspect that photo was taken after Rose/Benney (&Anna) came here, and was mailed to them.

The others seem to be of "Liza and Haim" and their kids. Which means that Haim must be one of Rose's brothers, and therefore should also be one of the younger men in the Yiddish photo ...

My boyfriend (nice goyish boyfriend) points out that the date in the Yiddish photo might actually be a Hebrew calendar date ... hmm.

Oh and I think I'm going to try to get a better copy of the military fella - that unreadableness is other paper stuck to the back - I'm going to try to scrape it off. Can't make it worse, and I've got a scan.

Thank you all SO so much! I've learned more about my history (and Orsha!) in the past 2 days than in all my father and my lives. It is such a gift that you give us.
