Related vocabulary words

As promised, here is one of my lists of related vocabulary words. I find making these lists helps me to understand the subtler differences and nuances of similar words... maybe they will help you all too!

This list's theme: "Differences"

разнообразие (noun) difference

для разнообразия (phrase) for a change

разновидность (noun) variety, type, kind (of people)

разница (noun) difference

какая разница? (phrase) What's the difference?/What difference does it make?

разнобразить (impf. verb--no perf. form) to vary

разнобразный (adjective) different, various, diverse

To practice these words I usually write out several sentences with each, using sentences that accentuate the subtle differences between each so I have a better understanding of when each word would be applicable.

I hope these lists will be helpful to you, and if I made any mistakes, feel free to correct me!

I would translate "разнообразие" as "variety" as in "variety is the spice of life".

Prolly just a typo -- разнООбразить and разнООбразный are both written with two O's.

You can also add "разносторонний" (miltifaceted, versatile), "безразличный" (indifferent), "отличный" (different from...; outstanding, excellent).

Interestingly enough, this was an exercise we had to do at the end of our chapter workbook--making related word lists and using those words in sentences. Good way to remember things!

When I see such posts I make a thanksgiving prayer for being native russian. Russian is very difficult language to learn, really.
