Housing Needed in Moscow and Saint Petersburg

I will be in Moscow from July 30 to August 4, and Saint Petersburg from August 4 until August 18. If possible I would like to stay with a Russian family to get more exposure to the language and culture than I would if I simply stayed in a hotel. I suppose that renting an apartment is also a good option.

I expect to pay a fair price for my lodging. I probably do need my own separate room, and I definitely want to be close to good public transportation. I also need to arrange for someone to pick me up at the airports in these cities and I would like to find a language instructor/guide for my stay.

I'm an aeronautical engineer by profession, and I've been working very hard on learning Russian, although I still am a beginner.

I can say several things in Russian, but I can't yet write one word. I just got the Russian fonts turned on in my computer and don't yet know how to get more than the random cyrillic letter. If you don't mind latinization I'd say, "Dzrosvicha. Min ya za voot Brent. Ya aviotsone, engineer." I've completed Pimsleur Russian one and expect to complete Russian II before I arrive in Moscow. [smile]

That is a shame. It would have been fun to meet you. I guess that is a good time for many people to travel.

You might be able to work something through ACTR. They have connections to a large number of Host families in both Moscow and Petersburg.
