Confession

So, would an исповедь take place in a church or in a room beneath Lubynaka?

in a church

Исповедь would be in a Church. Confession of crimes is признание.

in church. but it can be used, while talking about "confession of crimes" in a humorous way

"Исповедь" might take place in a room beneath Lubyanka if the text is sarcastic or just metaphorical. But that's not what you'd expect from a normal person in normal circumstances.

you will never expect Lubyanka be a normal circumstance for people ;))

It sure isn't! But the word исповедь is not very common when speaking about Lubyanka anyway.

It's признание, obviously.

Lubyanka is admittedly more efficient in coaxing people into a confession.

Given that it's two different words in Russian, - yes.

There's somebody else in this community, besides of us native speakers, just in case you didn't know :-) It's not our playground, it's the place to explain - and I believe that there's no innecessary efforts in explaining ;-)

Come on, it was an attempt at a joke! You can't be serious all the time -- or can you?

[identity profile] wolk-off.livejournal.com 2006-05-16 05:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, of course I can. A _real_ community maintainer must be DUMB serious.

;)

So, are you _real_ then? ;)

If the real one is the one who bans tons of Russian clowns who come to the community to sport their (arguable) sense of humor, then yes, I am DARN real.
