(no subject)

first question by me :)

i'm really into cross-stiching of ukrainian and
other eastern european motifs.

could anyone please help me with the verb for
cross-stitching (a russian speaking armenian friend
didn't know) as well as how to say the phrases:

'i am cross-stitching'
'i spent my evening cross-stitching'

or reasonable approximation.

thanks!

1. я вышиваю крестиком (ya vishivau krestikom)
2. я провела вечер за вышиванием крестиком (ya provela vecher za vishivaniem kresticom)

cross-stitching - вышивать крестиком.
i am cross-stitching - я вышиваю (крестиком).
i spent my evening cross-stitching - я провела вечер, вышивая (крестиком).

:))

I would love to remind that the working language of this community ios English, and if you write in Russian here, you are expected to provide an English translation.
BTW вышивание крестиком is technically and historically correct, while вышивание крестом is just bad, illiterate Russian.

"but you are expected to provide a comprehensive English translation (http://www.livejournal.com/userinfo.bml?user=learn_russian)"
я не владею достаточно английским языком, чтобы на нём писать )на итальянском, польском и немецком могу)

Again. The working language of this community is English - not Italiano, not Polski, not Deutsch. And not even Russian. This community is for those non-natives who study Russian, and our role as native speakers is to assist them. Most of those Russian_learners here are on a very early stage of their study, so they simply cannot understand if somebody writes here in Russian without English translation. This is not about playing fair play (though this too,) this is simply about being polite. No matter how bad your English is, just try (some of us here write in a REALLY bad English, like me, but it's still better understandable than plain Russian for most people here.)
