Could someone comment on the different conversational uses of the verb получаться? I've heard my co-worker use this verb many times in conversation, I believe in the form of "мне получается," but I've had trouble figuring out the meaning since this verb seems to be pretty versatile in dictionary definitions. Thanks!

I suppose it was "у меня получается" It may have several meanings. Unfortunately my english is not good enough to explain all the subtilities . It may be "I obtain " or "I succeed/it works" for exemple. It depends on the context.

Не волнуйся, у тебя все получится - Don't worry, everything will be OK, you will cope with it!
У меня получилось что-то сделать - I managed to do smth

Yep, you can say 'не получается', and it's mean 'something goes wrong'.

У меня (тебя/него) получается - I am (you are/he is) succeeding, I am moving forward (when working on smth).
У меня получится - I will be able to do it, I will get it done.
У меня не получается - I am failing, it's not working for me, I can't figure it out, etc
У меня не получилось - I couldn't do it (tried but failed).

Another meaning "It turns out":
Получается, все усилия были напрасны - It turns out that all efforts were in vain.
